Here's a champagne toast to the girl who can do anything! Thanks for being so lovely in every way - a gorgeous daughter in law, a sweet sister in law, a beautiful wife, a darling mother and an all-round amazing treasure! xoxoxo
(apologies for stealing your photos Katherine!)
Picture
I love how Katherine can milk a cow on Sunday and put on a designer outfit Monday morning and run a country - bless the day Andy went to A&M!

I'm so excited the girls are wearing the dresses I gave them!

Our hearts ache for the loss of you ... dear sweet Jack.

In Memoriam
With you a part of me hath passed away;

For in the peopled forest of my mind
A tree made leafless by this wintry wind
Shall never don again its green array.
Chapel and fireside, country road and bay,
Have something of their friendliness resigned;
Another, if I would, I could not find,
And I am grown much older in a day.
But yet I treasure in my memory
Your gift of charity, and young hearts ease,
And the dear honour of your amity;
For these once mine, my life is rich with these.
And I scarce know which part may greater be,--
What I keep of you, or you take from me.

... Good Night Sweet Prince, Forever in our Hearts

A little more of Dubrovnik...
Picture
This advertisement sort of mesmerized me - have never seen anything quite like it! I think she's real!

One of the many porticos around the city

Loved this guard!

Town Square - one of them.
Picture
You can't tell from this photo but that little tree had grown massive from its little pot.

View from my hotel - these looked to be little guard stations from another century of course

View from the Wall - looking at ruins compounded by the 90s bombings

Very Lush
Picture
Walking the Wall ... at a price of course!

What a delight to arrive in this gorgeous country - everyone was so pleasant and it felt very peaceful except for the occasional sad reminders of the early 90s warfare. The walled city of Dubrovnik is exquisite, aptly named "The Pearl of the Adriatic" and protected by UNESCO.

From the ramparts.

Small wonder Croatia is quickly becoming the Mediterranean Mecca.

Crusades anyone?

I think this is a mailbox!

The main thoroughfare of the Old Town with stones polished and gleaming from centuries of pedestrians.

No shortage of beautiful old churches

Our first stop for cappuccino - not as superb as Hugh and Mark's of course!

In this square is the oldest pharmacy in the world.

Whenever I take a photo of a car, I am reminded that I am my father's daughter.

A city like no other

We took the overnight ferry from the harbor at Bari (yes best pizza of my life) leaving at 10pm and arriving in Dubrovnik the next morning at 7. The ship was huge! I did not like being out at sea all night but our cabin was  comfortable enough (I offered to take the top bunk) and the wine was great. I was so happy to have Sarah and Josh's superb headphones which have served me well on many many occasions!
Picture
Alas I couldn't help but think of Leigh Ann when I saw this beautiful sign!
Picture
Bari is a huge harbor and there was very little to guide us - we nearly drove up on the ship to Albania ... I am not kidding! I wonder what that would have been like.
Picture
I made sure to note where the lifeboats and lifejackets were kept.
Picture
Looking down from the cabin deck - the boat was massive.

Little cabin window with first sighting of Croatia as we awoke.

Never in a million years did I think I'd be looking at this sign! And being there!
