Just got this photo from Sarah which I am so excited about!

At this school you are given 5 or 6 students who are your 'kids' for the year. So yes, they call me 'mom' which is totally beyond weird but well, that's sort of where my life has gone here anyway - to weird. We were just given two full days together to "bond'.  And we did.
The entire school had Friday off to travel.  So yesterday I took them to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne which I thought was wonderful and they thought was 'okay' and today we went to Montreux where I though they might like to visit Chateaux Chillon. No they did not, so I dumped them at the main street on the water where they took off shopping and I blissfully wandered over to the castle myself! OMG were they happy with that suggestion! These photos are from yesterday at Lausanne which is truly a gorgeous city. My kids are pretty gorgeous too as you will see here.
Picture
Leaving Lesyin on our school bus - still makes me nervous going down the mountain with its sharp turns and how we come RIGHT to the edge of each abyss ... at least three.
Picture
The lake front in Lausanne - gives new meanings to lakes. The colors are, obviously, heavenly.
Picture
You kind of expect a cuckoo to pop out of most of these towers. Note the window boxes full of flowers - the flowers all over Switzerland are a sight to behold - the Swiss are majestic gardeners.
Picture
The creperie - not to be missed by any of my kids - most of them vote for the nutella version.
Picture
There are so many nice places to sit along the water and it's easy to rent a boat too.
Picture
Arriving on the grounds of the Olympic Museum - here are three of mine - they are cute aren't they?
Picture
Cuter than cute actually - this is Elif and on the right Asya - both from Turkey.
Picture
She is so sweet. I'm going to try to work on her to stop smoking. I think 3 out of 5 of them smoke.
Picture
Pillars in front of the museum - the grounds are absolutely exquisite.
Picture
Elif and Asya - posers in the best sense of the word!
Picture
They could be in OMG don't you think? Elif, Asya and oh Civan - don't get me started on this boy - he's an angel, also from Turkey.
Picture
Museum grounds - where the kids sat after they had toured the musuem in 20 minutes and it took me a good hour. I would have stayed longer but I knew they were hungry out here!
Picture
Here we are: Iryina from the Ukraine, me from nowhere, Valentin from Geneva, and our three Turks. Civan is in love with Asya (no wonder) which is why he's keeping his distance - he's so shy I want to weep for him and beg Asya to give him a chance - can't though can I?
Picture
I love the contrast of the trees along the water.

Au Revoir to Lausanne - we had a good day once we were out of the museum, had eaten and the kids were free to roam ... leaving their 'mom' in the dust - till they were hungry for dinner of course! Seemed about right to me! lol

If only I had a day with her, all the photos I would take ... I miss her so much. And I hope we didn't watch too much SpongeBob SquarePants this summer!

Needed some cheering up this morning ... best way to do that is to daydream about Madeline, Alex, Iris, Ella and the new little guy to come. I love what Jean MacDonell said when we were chatting about how cute he'll be  ... "imagine him, he'll come complete with curls!" so I'm going to start today with Ella Rose on the last day of summer that I photographed her.

I gave up on this a few weeks ago when I had placed a lot of photos from Gaudi's Apartment complex and they crashed on me. Actually I was going to give up on this entirely but when I saw Kathy's note I realized maybe I'm not in here just babbling to myself after all. Thanks Cousin! lol
Picture
The corner outside of the apartment building
Picture
Waiting in the long hot August sun and looking to the magic I was about to enter
Picture
The Inner Courtyard - Greg and Cathy do NOT take the staircase, trust me it is not worth it - the glass elevator straight ahead and straight up!
Picture
Picture
The front gate - I took only the top because I didn't want a load of awful tourists in my photo - tourists like me! lol Actually this gate is in one of the models below...
Picture
The roof - a small part of the roof!
Picture
Yes - I know it looks like another planet, but this is the roof and one of those sights a camera can't do justice
Picture
Inside the exhibit apartment floor looking out
Picture
Another rooftop view
Picture
Looking down from the roof - everything is meticulously designed to work with nature

More Rooftop
Picture
A sample of organic life that inspired Gaudi - there were also animal skeletons but this was the prettiest to my eye
Picture
The attic roof from within - a marvel
Picture
I fell in love with the models for his buildings and reconstructions.

This is the front entrance of which I have a tiny bit of the real one above, but only the top section of it ...

Picture
This is not my kind of architecture but I still loved it - this particular piece reminded me of Michael Rennie in The Day The Earth Stood Still ...

Imagine living here!

Back to the street corner for a little rest - I needed it after those 6 or so flight of stairs - I'm warning you G and C, don't do it!
